Putting your best face forward not only means choosing the right makeup, but using all the proper tools and techniques to apply it. Here are some tips on every type of ARTISTRY beauty product, along with the right brushes and sponges to apply it as if you were a professional makeup artist.
Brush up on your brushes
As a full brush, use it for all-over application, shading, and cheek powders, like our ARTISTRY Exact Fit™ Pressed or Perfecting Loose Powders. The effect varies based on the amount of pressure you apply to the brush. Sweep with a light touch for sheer coverage, or create a more matte look by applying more pressure.
As a half brush, use it for highlighting and illuminating powders, like ARTISTRY Exact Fit™ Powder Foundation, which provides sheer coverage. To enhance your cheekbones, suck in your cheeks to find the hollows, then shade along and just beneath the sunken area. Stop short of the corner of your mouth, and be sure to blend.
As a folded brush, use it for cheek powders, like our ARTISTRY Cheek Color. When applying color to the cheek, focus on the apples of your cheeks. If you are fair skinned, try pinks. For olive or darker complexions, corals and peach hues, as well as soft plums are most complementary.
The Foundation of Every Face
The best way to apply foundation, like our ARTISTRY Tinted Moisturiser or ARTISTRY Exact Fit™ Powder Foundation for sheer coverage, or medium to complete coverage ARTISTRY Youth Xtend™ Lifting Smoothing Foundation, first depends on how much coverage you want. A foundation brush, sponge, or ARTISTRY face brush (if you are using our powder foundation) gives a heavier application than your fingers. For everyday application, consider using your fingers, if you want to cut down on time spent, or the number of tools you need to use. When applying foundation, dot it on your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin, then blend it out toward the sides of your face using a gentle sweeping motion. Use long, soft strokes for sheerer coverage.
The Eyes Have It
The most flattering eye shadow technique for every eye shape is the “thirds” method, where the lightest shade is applied to the inner corner, a deeper shade is applied to the middle of the lid, and the darkest shade frames the outer portion of the lid, but does not extend past the end of the brow. You may also lightly sweep the lightest shade below the brow ridge for highlighting, and for a more glamorous, evening look.
When lining the eye with ARTISTRY Eyeliner or applying our custom eye colors, brush fine lines or create dramatic definition with the blunt, stiff bristles of an eyeliner brush. Lining with an eye shadow can create a softer look. Simply dampen a small liner brush with water, dip it in a dark-brown shadow and use it to trace along your top and bottom lash lines, as close to the lashes as possible. If it’s still too much for you, just do the top lash line.
With so many eye colors and quads to choose from, there’s virtually no limit to the looks you can achieve with ARTISTRY. Discover your signature look; discover a look that will get you noticed.
